On this episode of SEPADPod Simon speaks with Claire Beaugrand, Lecturer in Sociology of the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula at Exeter University. Claire is the author of Stateless in the Gulf: Migration, Nationality and Society in Kuwait (2017) and a number of articles looking at the bidun, statelessness, and Gulf politics. On this episode Simon and Claire talk about Kuwaiti politics, particularly the case of the bidun, reflecting on their role within - and beyond - state structures, methodological approaches to exploring the issue, spatial aspects of Gulf politics, the politics of the margins and rising sectarianism in viewing the bidun.
