SEPADPod with Nader Hashemi's keynote from SEPAD 2019

23rd Apr 2019 by Simon Mabon

On this special episode of #SEPADPod we are releasing the keynote from Nader Hashemi (University of Denver)at the inaugural SEPAD conference, held in Lancaster on 28th March. In a fascinating and insightful talk, Nader set out the sectarianization thesis, contextualised it within broader thinking on sectarian politics, outlined the importance of authoritarian politics within the thesis, and explored the role of Western states and media outlet in propagating Orientalist tropes that facilitate the sectarianization of politics in the region. A fascinating talk that is well worth your time.
