Adel Ruished is PhD student in Politics and International Relations at PPR Department, Lancaster University, UK.  His current research is concerned with Israeli-Palestinian political conflict with a special focus on the City of East Jerusalem. More fundamentally, he is looking at the impact of contested political programs on the daily life of Palestinian Jerusalemites post-Oslo Peace Accords. His work uses the Political Theory of Giorgio Agamben, Hannah Arendt and Michel Foucault to critically reflect on power and space in East Jerusalem. 

He is the editor of States of Exception or Exceptional States (IB Tauris, 2022) and has contributed chapters to edited collections on Agamben, space and East Jerusalem. He has also published short articles at “Ya Quds” al-Quds University Newsletter, SEPAD special issue on urban space and the Conversation Newspaper.  Adel served for twenty years as Governmental Relations Officer, and Administrative Director for the Jerusalem Campus at Al-Quds University in East Jerusalem

He holds a Masters Degree in Global Politics from "Government Department" at the LSE. Adel presented his research findings at several international conferences including the Critical Legal Theory conference at Warwick University in Coventry in 2017, BRISMES conferences in London and Leeds in 2018 and 2019, WOCMES Conference in Seville, Spain 2018, and SEPAD workshops at Lancaster University in 2019.
