Aidan is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the Australian National University. His thesis explores the construction of Shi’i shrine cities and how collective transnational identities affect regional and international order.

Aidan holds a bachelor’s degrees with honours in International Security Studies from the Australian National University. His honours thesis explored Pakistan’s strategic culture towards Afghanistan and examined latent divergent interests in the Sino-Pakistan strategic partnership. 

His current research interests include International Relations of the Middle East & Central Asia, Pan-Islamism, Sectarianism, International Security Theory and Hegemony in the English School Tradition.
